Tomatoes
are perfect summer vegetable… just remember smell of freshly cut tomatoes mixed
with a bit of basil and few drops of lemon juice…. Well this year I’ll have
home grown tomatoes, like I use to have last few years. This year I planted tomato seeds in early
march and they grew out so well. Last afternoon was perfect time to transfer
them in my garden. I did new way of gardening this spring, raised bed, and we’ll
see how it will go (in a few days I’ll show you what we did during last
weekend). Tomatoes are one vegetable
that grows so well in my garden, and I have to tell you one little secret. Last
year I didn’t have much time during June to weed my tomatoes so I thought there
won’t be any, but I was wrong. Nothing happened and I had perfect tomatoes.
Growing your own tomatoes is not hard. I saved seeds from tomatoes I had in my
garden last year. All you need is some soil, seeds and some sort of container (I
used yoghurt cups).
Put a one or two seeds in every container and put some soil
on top of your seeds. Tomato seedlings
need strong, direct light, so you may consider putting them on sunny window,
and have same this in mind when you're ready to plant them outside - try to choose
the sunniest part of your garden. When you’re going to plan them outside, put your
plants deeper than they were in the pot, all the way up to the top few leaves. After you transplant your tomatoes be sure to
avoid transplant shock and give each plant about 3-4 liters of warm water (around
27C). Your each tomato plant should be some 40 cm distance then other, but you
can plant them on smaller distance (like I did) and then after they grow a bit
bigger choose better ones. First 10 days tomato plants require about 500ml of
water each day.
After some 10 days tomatoes are in your garden, you should
ensure each plant about 7.5 liters of water per week, so keep that in mind if
you don’t have rainy weather. In hot summer days it’s ok to water it more frequently
with larger volumes of water. Speaking
about watering, keep in mind it’s better to use soaker hose then watering it
overhead. Overhead watering can cause and encourage diseases that tomatoes are
particularly prone to. Something I learned previous years; it’s good to put
some dried grass or some mulch to keep soil moist during dry summer weather.
You can put it after some two weeks after transplanting. When your tomatoes
grow a bit bigger, about some month after transplanting you should use stakes
for your tomatoes, but I’ll tell you more about it when stakes times comes. If
you are wondering, I planted cherry, oxheart and brandywine tomatoes. For the end of this post, just keep in mind
that tomatoes need lots of warm weather and sunshine for optimum taste.

Rajčice su
idealno ljetno povrće ... Sjeti se samo mirisa svježe narezane rajčice
pomiješane s malo bosiljka i nekoliko kapi limunova soka ....
vam reći I jednu malu tajnu. Prošle godine nisam imala puno vremena tijekom
dogodilo, a ja sam imala savršene rajčice.
čašama, sve do prvih nekoliko listova. Nakon što ste presadili svoje rajčice
pokušajte izbjeći šok koji biljka doživi i dati svakoj oko 3-4 litre tople vode
( oko 27 ° C ).
one bolje i veće. Biljke prvih 10 dana, svakodnevno zahtijevaju oko 500 ml
vode.
osigurati oko 7,5 litara vode tjedno. Imajte to na umu , ako nemate kišovito
vrijeme .
Bit
će riječi i o tome kada za to dođe pravo vrijeme. Ako ste znatiželjni, ove
godine zasadila sam cherry rajčice, brandywine i volovsko srce.
toplog vremena i sunca.
